Blaze damages 6 Massachusetts homes, displaces 16 families

A wind-fueled hearth has broken six houses and displaced 16 households in Massachusetts.

The blaze started Friday night time on the third-floor balcony of a house in Lawrence earlier than spreading to 5 different close by residences. Fireplace officers say excessive winds helped the fireplace unfold shortly within the densely settled neighborhood.

All residents had been safely evacuated and no accidents had been reported, Lawrence Fireplace Chief Brian Moriarty advised reporters. No pets had been reported lacking or injured, he added.
