Vigil planned for Maine Maritime Academy students killed in Castine crash

Dec. 11—Maine Maritime Academy is planning to carry a vigil Sunday evening for the 4 college students killed in a automotive crash over the weekend.

The vigil shall be held at 6:30 p.m. on the Leavitt Corridor Garden, in line with an announcement on the college’s web site.

4 college students — Brian Kenealy, 20, of York; Chase Fossett, 21, of Gardiner; Luke Simpson, 22, of Rockport, Massachusetts; and Riley Ignacio-Cameron of Aquinnah, Massachusetts — have been killed early Saturday morning when the automotive they have been in, pushed by one other pupil, Joshua Goncalves-Radding, left the highway and struck a tree on Route 166 in Castine.

Goncalves-Radding, 20, of North Babylon, New York, and two different college students who have been passengers within the automotive have been despatched to space hospitals with non-life threatening accidents. The opposite two college students have been Noelle Tavares, 20, of North Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Dominick Gecoya, 20, of Middleton, Massachusetts.

Maine Division of Public Security spokesperson Shannon Moss stated Sunday the division wouldn’t remark past the knowledge offered in press releases Saturday as a result of there’s an energetic investigation ongoing.

“As a result of severity of the crash this investigation might take weeks, if not months to finish,” Moss stated in an e mail.
