Mother and son arrested after Maine standoff
A mother and son have been arrested after a standoff in North Berwick on Tuesday.
Adian Scott, 23, of North Berwick was charged with violation of a protective order, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and creating a police standoff, while his mother, 45-year-old Churi Scott, was charged with creating a police standoff and hindering apprehension or prosecution, according to the North Berwick Police Department.
Police were called to a Shana Lane residence about 10 a.m. for a report that a suspect had violated a protection order and possibly fired a gun.
When officers arrived, they were shot at, the department said.
Negotiators spent about six hours trying to get Scott and his mother to exit the home. But police ended up deploying gas, forcing Scott’s mother out of the house. About an hour later, Scott surrendered to police.
No additional information was immediately available.
