Maine’s first woman Adjutant General to be sworn in Friday
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Maine’s first woman Adjutant General will be sworn on Friday.
Brigadier General Diane Dunn will take the Oath of Office as Adjutant General and Commissioner of the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management.
She is the first woman in history to lead the Maine National Guard and hold the post of Commissioner.
She replaces Major General Douglas Farnham, who will retire after nearly 40 years of service.
General Farnham has served as Adjutant General and DVEM Commissioner since 2015.
Governor Mills will preside over the Change of Responsibility ceremony Friday afternoon at Camp Chamberlain in August.
