ORONO, Maine (WABI) – On Sunday Maine Soccer hosted the University of New Hampshire for the America East Championship.

The Black Bears didn’t waste much time getting on the board.

Exactly three minutes into the contest Jordane Pinette scored off a rebound from the Wildcat keeper to put Maine up 1-0.

Maine’s second goal came just 11 minutes into the championship as Kayla Kraemer sent a volley to Abby Kraemer who tucked the ball away into the left side of the net.

The Black Bears scored the final goal of the season midway through the second half when Lara Kirkby fired a rocket passed the keeper.

Maine took the contest 3-0 and as a result Maine Soccer has been crowned champions of the America East on their home field for the second year in a row.

Maine’s journey to a second title included a near perfect 7-0-1 conference record in the regular season and a postseason run in which Maine outscored their opponents 5-0.

The Black Bears are now off to the NCAA tournament!
