ArtsFarmington not too long ago introduced the return of Maine Mountain Chamber Music to Nordica Auditorium at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in Merrill Corridor, 224 Essential St. in Farmington. MMCM founders Yuri Funahashi, piano, and Laurie Kennedy, viola, can be joined by violinist Charles Dimmick and cellist Leo Eguchi. This system consists of Zoltan Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Gabriel Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor.
Grammy-Award profitable violinist Dimmick enjoys a various and distinguished profession as concertmaster, soloist, and chamber musician. He’s co-concertmaster of the Boston Pops Esplanade, and concertmaster of each the Portland Symphony and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. Kennedy, principal violist of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, retired in January 2022, after 40 seasons. She is co-director and violist with Maine Mountain Chamber Music, based with Funahashi in 2002. She carried out each summer time since 1977 on the Sebago-Lengthy Lake Chamber Music Competition, and was music director there for a few years. She resides in Carthage.
Pianist Funahashi has carried out extensively in Europe, Japan, Canada and Australia and in lots of the main halls within the U.S. together with the Kennedy Heart, Orchestra Corridor in Chicago, the Music Heart in Los Angeles, Jones Corridor in Houston and the 92nd Road Y in New York Metropolis. She has collaborated ceaselessly with the Verdehr Trio, has appeared in performances with the Brentano String Quartet, the Cassatt String Quartet, The Daedalus Quartet, and is co-founder and co-director of the Maine Mountain Chamber Music sequence. She has recorded for Musical Heritage and John Marks Information and is on the college at Colby Faculty in Waterville.
