Maine Mountain Chamber to Perform at UMF

ArtsFarmington not too long ago introduced the return of Maine Mountain Chamber Music to Nordica Auditorium at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in Merrill Corridor, 224 Essential St. in Farmington. MMCM founders Yuri Funahashi, piano, and Laurie Kennedy, viola, can be joined by violinist Charles Dimmick and cellist Leo Eguchi. This system consists of Zoltan Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Gabriel Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor.

Kennedy, principal violist of the Portland Symphony Orchestra, retired in January 2022, after 40 seasons. She is co-director and violist with Maine Mountain Chamber Music, based with Funahashi in 2002. She carried out each summer time since 1977 on the Sebago-Lengthy Lake Chamber Music Competition, and was music director there for a few years. She resides in Carthage.

She has recorded for Musical Heritage and John Marks Information and is on the college at Colby Faculty in Waterville.
