Maine GOP candidates vying to take on Golden in second congressional district
On Tuesday, voters in Maine’s second congressional district will choose between republicans Austin Theriault and Mike Soboleski to take on Congressman Jared Golden.
In April, both candidates faced off in WGME13/FOX23’s studio for a debate.
Theriault and Soboleski agreed on several things: their support for former President Donald Trump and opposing new gun legislation.
But the candidates did butt heads over the northern border with Canada, where Soboleski implied there were few issues and Theriault said his day one priority if elected would focus on securing both the northern and southern borders of the U.S.
“When I have a family one day, I want them to live in a safer America. A Maine that we can be proud of,” said Theriault.
“We do need change. I have the experience, forward thinking, creative solutions to be able to make those changes happen,” said Soboleski.
Former President Trump endorsed Theriault who has a ten to one advantage over Soboleski when it comes to fundraising.
Soboleski says it’s a badge of courage because he doesn’t accept PAC money.
