BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The Maine DOT will receive approximately 16.6 million dollars from the Federal Transit Administration to improve two ferry systems.

The Biden-Harris Administration announced Monday nearly $300 million in grants to modernize ferry systems across the country.

The program provides federal support to help areas one day acquire “greener” ferry boats and upgrade equipment to support low-emission services.

Maine received the funds to improve terminals in Lincolnville and Islesboro.
