AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – The Maine Division of Environmental Safety has prolonged the reporting deadline for greater than 1,000 producers who deliberately add PFAS to their merchandise.

LD 1503 was handed in July 2021, and requires producers to report why PFAS are utilized in merchandise.

It additionally bans the sale of carpets and rugs containing PFAS by 2023, and bans all merchandise with PFAS by 2030.

The DEP says extensions may be requested if producers have no idea if their merchandise include PFAS or if they can not present ample info by the deadline.
