Maine Attorney General announces $350 million in national settlement with Publicis Health

Maine (WABI) – Attorney General Aaron Frey announced a $350 million national settlement with Publicis Health to resolve investigations into the global marketing and communications firm’s role in the prescription opioid crisis.

Maine will be receiving $1.8 million from the settlement to help address the the opioid crisis.

Filing describes how Publicis’ work contributed to the crisis by helping Purdue Pharma and other manufacturers.

Publicis agreed to the terms of the settlement and recognized the harm its conduct caused, the agreement will give communities hit hardest by the opioid crisis more financial support for treatment and recovery

Wednesday’s filing is the latest action Frey has taken to combat the opioid crisis.

Maine has brought $34 million in legal settlements with drug manufacturers.
