LEWISTON, Maine – A church in Lewiston has opened a brand new warming middle on the nook of Sabattus and Bartlett streets.

Calvary United Methodist Church put in charging stations and bought its new warming middle able to open sooner than anticipated in anticipation of snow Thursday.

Regular hours shall be from 12 a.m. till 8 a.m. this winter, and church members may also feed folks breakfast earlier than they go away. Throughout Friday’s snowstorm, the brand new warming middle shall be open till 4 p.m.

“Even on the times that we’ve been open throughout the day, we’ve had folks are available at 8 a.m. We’ve had folks with frostbite are available, who’ve slept out in a single day. The Androscoggin County Fee voted to fund the church’s new warming middle Wednesday.

Commissioners supplied almost $300,000 to maintain the middle open this winter for these in want.
