Maine Wildlife Park in Gray is an animal sanctuary that’s home to dozens of species of wildlife.
They all reside at the park because they’re unable to return to their natural habitats due to injury, being orphaned or, in some cases, being human-dependent as a result of illegal captivity. All are well cared for at the park, including deer, moose, cougars, woodchucks and turtles, among several others.
If you can’t make it to the park in person, the next best thing is to follow it on Facebook or Instagram. You’ll see stunning photos and videos of the animals going about their days.
Most are entirely adorable while some, including bald eagles, emit ferocity. Plus, few birds are as regal-looking as a great-horned owl. If you’ve never seen a beaver working on its dam, the Maine Wildlife Park video on Instagram will delight you.
Maine Wildlife Park is open through Nov. 11. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
