Build Maine Conference held in Downtown Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN, Maine (WABI) – The Build Maine Conference was held in Downtown Skowhegan Thursday.

The event features workshops handling topics such as civic development and land-use planning.

Much of the programming was about how trends and public policy can relate to those topics.

The two-day event attracted over two-hundred attendees ranging from builders to city and state officials.

”It’s a collaborative effort to pull together people at the core about building Maine clearly and how we do it in a sustainable way. How do we provide for the growth that Maine needs, but in a way that also protects the natural resources? Because that’s how we really build the communities and the structure that we need for Maine to thrive,” explained Nancy Smith, CEO, GrowSmart Maine.

The event also featured a pitch competition and beer garden that were open to the public.
