2 arrested in Maine motel drug bust
Two people were arrested this week during a motel search on drug trafficking charges, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
During the motel search Wednesday, police confiscated 116 grams of fentanyl and 158 grams of cocaine, the agency said Thursday. Officers also found 143 grams of cocaine and $6,980 in suspected drug proceeds at a storage unit in Winthrop. Police searched a storage unit in Gardiner as well but did not seize anything.
Police said the estimated street value of the fentanyl is $14,500, and the value of the cocaine is $30,000.
The suspects, Stephen Lee Smith of Connecticut and Katelynn Dubois of Winthrop, are currently being held in Kennebec County Jail in Augusta. Smith, 34, has been charged with class A aggravated drug trafficking. Dubois, 32, has been charged with the same as well as an additional class B unlawful trafficking charge.
