Woman dies after car crash in Chaplin, state police report

CHAPLIN, CT (WFSB) – A woman has died following a car crash that shut down Route 6 in Chaplin on Saturday morning.

Troop D responded to the report of a two-car accident on Willimantic Road.

According to state police, the victim was identified as 79-year-old Beverly Elwood of Storrs. She was a passenger of the vehicle, with 77-year-old John Elwood driving.

The operator of the second vehicle is identified as 40-year-old Omar Dejesus of Windham.

Police say John Elwood was traveling eastbound with Beverley in the front passenger seat, and they crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with the second vehicle.
