Upgrades coming for CTfastrak bus rapid transit system
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) – Governor Ned Lamont will hold a news conference on Tuesday announcing that the Connecticut Department of Transportation is receiving a major grant from the FTA to implement upgrades to CTfastrak.
Details will be unveiled at the CTFastrak station on Main Street in New Britain at 11 a.m.
The funds are being earmarked for upgrades to CT’s bus rapid transit system, which opened in 2015 after fifteen years of planning and three years of construction.
The system is centered around an exclusive 9.4-mile-long guideway dedicated to the BRT system that links Central Connecticut communities, including Bristol, Cheshire, Hartford, New Britain, Manchester, Newington, Southington, Waterbury, and West Hartford.
