Three people shot in one CT town on Friday night

Three people were shot in the same area of Hamden late Friday night, according to Acting Chief of Police Timothy F. Wydra

Wydra said Hamden police officers responded to Goodrich Street between Butler Street and Shelton Avenue after receiving a report just after 11:30 p.m. of numerous gunshots being fired. The officers found numerous spent cartridge cases near Goodrich Street just east of Shelton Avenue, Wydra said.

But while at the scene the officers were advised by the Hamden Police Dispatch that Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael’s Hospital campus had reported two gunshot victims had arrived at the hospital shortly after the shots fired complaint was received, Wydra said in a statement.

Wydra said that the dispatch center then advised a short time later that a third gunshot victim was also shot on Goodrich Street had been found a short distance away from the scene and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.

Wydra said that as of Saturday morning, two of the victims were being treated for their injuries at YNHH, while the third victim had been treated and released.

The Hamden Police Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit have assumed the investigation, Wydra said.
