The Beavers and Huskies have previously played twice. The most notable game came in 2016, when UConn beat OSU 80-51 in the Final Four semifinals. Connecticut also defeated the Beavers 88-70 in 1995.

UConn is coached by Geno Auriemma, who is expected to become the winningest coach in NCAA women’s basketball history in November. Auriemma has 1,213 career wins, three behind leader Tara VanDerveer, who retired following the 2023-24 season at Stanford. OSU is the Huskies’ fifth game of the 2024-25 season.
