CONNECTICUT — Avid weekday morning news viewers will see a new face between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. as WFSB anchor Caitlin Nuclo announced Thursday she will join Nicole Nalepa as part of the station’s weekday morning news team.

In a Facebook post, Nuclo said she will join the weekday morning team at Channel 3 Eyewitness News alongside Nalepa, Scot Haney and Caitlin Francis.

“It’s an honor to work at my hometown station and to be welcomed into your homes,” Nuclo said on Facebook. “Thank you for all the support on weekends the last seven years…I’ll see you Monday.”

In a comment on a separate post, Nalepa showed her support for her new co-anchor.

“You got this, Mama,” Nalepa said on Facebook. “Can’t wait to spend some time with you on the desk.”

The Laurel Connecticut reports Alleah Red will take over as the station’s weekend morning anchor as part of the shuffle.

An award-winning journalist, Nuclo joined the WFSB team in 2017 as a weekend morning anchor.

Born and raised in Hamden, she previously interned at WFSB in 2007 while attending the University of Connecticut, according to her station bio.

Prior to her time with WFSB, Nuclo anchored and reported at News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, as well as WBNG in Binghamton, N.Y., and CNY Central and NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse, N.Y.
