CT man gunned down in parking lot of Middletown hookah lounge

A 20-year-old man from New Britain was shot to death in the parking lot of the Hidden Middletown  in Middletown early Sunday, police said.

The Middletown Police Department said officers responded to the report of a shooting in the parking lot of Hidden Hookah Lounge, 695 South Main St., just before 4 a.m. Sunday and found a male victim in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

Officers “immediately performed life saving measures on the victim and were soon assisted by medical personnel,” police said in a statement. However, the victim, was taken to Middlesex Hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced deceased, police said.

The identity of the victim is not being released as investigators work to notify next of kin, police said.

“This incident occurred at the closing of the establishment for the evening and it is believed that there were numerous people in the parking lot at the time this incident occurred,” police said in the statement. “Evidence of multiple rounds fired was discovered however at this time no witnesses have been located.”
