The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Sunday continued to investigate a Saturday incident in which two people were injured when a boat they were on caught fire on a pond in Kent, officials said.

The 20-foot water ski boat caught fire on Leonard Pond in Kent shortly after departing from the Club Gateway dock about 11:15 a.m., according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Four people were on the boat at the time of the fire and they used a fire extinguisher to battle the blaze, officials said.

Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, while the others declined medical treatment, officials said.
