People across the state continued to celebrate the Fourth of July throughout the weekend.

“It’s nice and calm and relaxed for sure,” said Carey Andre, from West Hartford.

Families were out early at Hammonasset Beach State Park hoping to beat the crowds after over a dozen state parks and beaches reached full capacity on Friday.

“We were at the house yesterday barbecuing, enjoying the pool and now enjoying the beach today,” said Jennifer Lakin, who traveled from Maryland to visit family here in Connecticut.

“It’s really fun,” said her niece Giuliana Ross. “There’s a lot of things that we can do.”

For others, it’s a way to get the kids out the house.

“They start camp next week,” said Andre “So we wanted to do like a nice little beach trip before they went.”
