(WFSB) – With Thanksgiving just a few days away, you may need to change your plans if they involved Boston Market.

Online court records say five Boston Market locations in Connecticut have received eviction orders in the last month.

Channel 3 went to 4 different locations Monday: Milford, West Hartford, Newington and Meriden. At every location there was a sign on the door that says sales were suspended by the Department of Revenue Services on 11/9/23.

At the Newington location, Steve Brainard of Rocky Hill stopped by hoping to place a Thanksgiving order.

“I didn’t want to cook , figured I’d come here. They got good chicken,” Steve Brainard, “I’m kind of surprised because I like Boston Market.”

At the West Hartford location, the signs caught the attention of David Gustafson. Gustafson says he’s seen a decline over the 30 years the restaurant has been on Farmington Avenue.

“I’ve noticed as I’ve come by here over the last year, it did seem like there were less people that were eating here,” said Gustafson.

Online court records show Boston Market’s legal issues extend all across Connecticut.

12 different locations have faced civil actions in the last 2 years. 5 locations received eviction orders within the last month.

The evictions and lawsuits are all related to landlords accusing Boston Market of not paying tens of thousands of dollars in rent.

In Newington, the landlord filed a complaint saying Boston Market stopped paying rent in April 2023.

Boston Market never showed up to court, so a judge ordered an eviction in July 2023.

However in early November, the Newington location still accepted channel 3′s own Thanksgiving order for employees working the holiday.

“We’ll have to go somewhere else, plan B I guess,” said Steve Brainard.

Boston Market has not responded to Channel 3′s request for comment. Channel 3′s calls and emails to the Newington location to check on the status of ours and other customers’ holiday orders have also gone unanswered.
