The Boston Red Sox secured a series victory against the Kansas City Royals over the weekend.

Now, after having a day off on Monday, the Red Sox are back in action on the road against the Texas Rangers beginning Tuesday.

Ahead of the matchup, which will feature Rangers ace Jacob deGrom and lefty Patrick Sandoval for Boston, Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy made a few moves to his starting lineup.

Red Sox Announce Jarren Duran Move

One of those changes included outfielder Jarren Duran, who only appeared for one at-bat on Sunday in the nine spot after entering the game as a pinch hitter.

On Tuesday, Duran is back in the lineup and will hit seventh in the batting order in front of Caleb Durbin and Nick Sogard, while drawing the start in center field, where he’s transitioned to since the injuries to Ceddanne Rafaela and Eli White.

Duran’s 2026 Season With Red Sox

It’s been a challenging 2026 campaign for Duran, who simply hasn’t been able to find much consistency.

Duran has played 140 games this season and currently owns a .205 batting average across 527 at-bats.

That said, Duran has still recorded 65 runs, 108 hits, 20 home runs and 69 RBIs while slugging .362 with a .623 OPS.

It’s unclear what role Duran will have when Rafaela and White return. And unless he puts together a strong late-season or playoff stretch, Boston could move on from him after this season.

It’s a chilly start! We’re waking to 40s in some spots thanks to a crystal-clear sky under a big dome of high pressure. (NBC10 Boston meteorologist Tevin Wooten says false fall has entered the chat!)

Because of that, dazzling sun will be on order today with plenty of dry, comfy air. With the sea breeze expected to kick in early this afternoon, we should see temps hold in the upper 60s at the coast. Elsewhere, low 70s are in order.

Tomorrow starts the warmup – albeit a short one this time around. Highs recover to near 80 with more sunshine. We should hold onto these values on Thursday, but with more clouds and a chance for showers Friday, we’ll fall back to the low/mid 70s.

Weekend is much cooler and that theme should carry into early next week. Showers will catch up to us on Sunday – likely around for the Patriots game – although we’re still trying to narrow down the exact timing and intensity.

Joe Cimino, the Boston bar and restaurant owner of the likes of Daisy Buchanan’s and Zelda’s, loved to tell stories.

“If you knew Joe, you knew that he was a storyteller. In fact, it was his preferred means of communication,” said his youngest son Michael Cimino.

“You quickly learned you better get comfortable, because you were going to hear the full story,” and it was captivating, he said, joking, “and of course there were always a few details that seemed to get a little better with every telling.”

Attendees of Joe Cimino’s celebration of life, held at Boston’s Mandarin Oriental over the weekend, all laughed. And when the speaking was over, the crowd sat at tables and huddled around lamb lollipops, something Cimino would have suggested, his friends said. Then they told stories about the story teller.

Cimino died on Aug, 30, at the age of 82, after a battle with cancer.

Derek Sanderson, Bruins legend and two-time Stanley Cup winner who co-owned Newbury Street’s Daisy Buchanan’s with Cimino, called his late friend a genius.

They way he thought about the business was unique and innovative, Sanderson said, recalling a time that the line outside the bar was down the block, even though there were only a dozen or so people inside at the start of one night.

When Sanderson asked him about it, Cimino said it was good advertising.

Jokes and business acumen aside, Sanderson said that Cimino was a person who always had other people’s backs.

“But he did it quietly,” the former hockey star said.

Dick McDonough, who worked as a bartender and manager at Daisy’s, recalled how unlikely the success of the place seemed at first.

When Cimino brought him to see the place, they had to take three stairs down to the spot, “physically and socially,” McDonough said, remembering that he told Cimino at the time at other places he’d worked, “We got coat rooms bigger than that.”

Both Sanderson and McDonough said that the fight to get a liquor license was a big battle, but Cimino had appealed to the board, saying the drinks complemented the meal.

“We didn’t have a meal,” McDonough said.

So, they started making roast beef sandwiches, which McDonough’s sister Patty McDonough remembered being pretty good.

Daisy’s became a success, and so did a number of other pubs and clubs that Cimino opened after, McDonough said. “It was the greatest time in Boston.”
