Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania in a recent appearance on ESPN’s Pat McAfee show, the Boston Celtics are considering trading for Damian Lillard, but the Portland Trail Blazers star remains focused on getting to the Miami Heat’s roster.
“In those cases, where teams have done their backchannel research to find out what Dame is thinking, whether he wants to play for us,” said Charania via Talk Basket’s Erikas Polackas. “Whether it’s the (Los Angeles) Clippers, whether it’s the Celtics. Those are among the two teams I’ve heard that have had a level of interest in Dame Lillard. I think the answer has been a resounding no. He wants to be in Miami, period.”
Whether the Celtics are interested and the team Dame wants to play for may all be moot, however, with the Blazers having made it clear they intend to do what’s best for the team with Lillard’s contract.
As Boston preps the players it hopes to make history with next season for the task at hand, there’s a new book out on the history of the Red Sox out and another on the Celtics on the way. https://t.co/79oVxfhoY8

Add in that such reported interest may be merely of the academic sort, with clubs like Boston and LA having calls to assess what such a deal might take being presented as genuine interest in making a deal that might well leave them too thin to compete for a title.
