A bench in the Boston Public Garden that appeared in a famous scene in the movie “Good Will Hunting” is already a beloved fixture in the city. But the star of the 1997 movie wants to make the filming location even more special.

Cambridge native Matt Damon, who portrayed the titular character in the Academy Award-winning Boston-based production, wants to put a statue of the comedian and actor Robin Williams in the same garden where they filmed the famous bench scene. Williams died in 2014.

Damon said in an interview with the YouTuber Jake Hamilton that an artist wants to add a permanent bronze statue of Williams in the lagoon area of the Garden.
