SC man shot dead on boat after water rescue in self-defense incident

Officers in South Carolina should not submitting fees after a 29-year-old man was fatally shot on a ship after being rescued, ruling that the incident was a case of self-defense.  

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Workplace confirmed final week that deputies have been dispatched March 15 after a person and a lady, who weren’t sporting life jackets, fell off a Jet Ski into Lake Keowee. A person and lady on a pontoon boat noticed the opposite man and lady, drove over and helped them onto their boat.  

However the man who was rescued allegedly “turned agitated and commenced assaulting the couple on the pontoon,” in accordance with the sheriff’s workplace. The girl who was rescued “tried to de-escalate the assault by pushing the person, who had been on the Jet Ski, again within the water” earlier than the couple on the boat helped the person up once more.  

“After a second encounter, the person on the pontoon shot the person fearing for his and his spouse’s life whereas being assaulted. The person who was shot died on the pontoon,” the sheriff’s workplace mentioned.

The 74-year-old man who fired a gun on the boat and his spouse haven’t been named by officers.

The sheriff’s workplace confirmed that Nathan Drew Morgan of South Carolina was shot and died on the boat, the Oconee County Coroner’s Workplace confirmed.  

The workplace additionally mentioned tenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor David Wagner decided that the taking pictures was in self-defense after assembly with investigators.
