Primary election results: Here are the first vote totals in Salt Lake County cities, Ogden and St. George

Primary election results are trickling in after Utah voters cast their ballots for whom they would like to see square off in the fall finale.

Candidates across eight Salt Lake County cities are waiting to see if they’ll get the nod to keep making their case for holding office.

Residents of Bluffdale, Brighton, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Murray, Sandy, West Jordan and West Valley mailed in ballots and took to the polls to determine who will have a chance to represent them on town and city councils.

Ogden voters, meanwhile, decided who will compete in the city’s mayoral race, and St. George residents cast ballots to finalize the field for November’s City Council contests.

Several communities in Salt Lake County, including Salt Lake City, opted to decide their races with ranked choice voting in November instead of hosting a primary.

Mail-in ballots postmarked by Tuesday will still be counted. The official canvass is scheduled for Sept. 19.
