Gosar, Greene among 6 ‘no’ votes on House war crimes evidence bill

WASHINGTON – Six Home Republicans on Wednesday voted in opposition to a invoice that may direct the White Home to report back to Congress inside 60 days on any U.S. efforts to research struggle crimes in Ukraine and switch over any proof to worldwide investigations.

The invoice was launched within the Home final month and handed overwhelmingly, 418-7.

Sponsored by Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, it asks the president to submit a report back to Congress on the U.S. overnment’s efforts to gather and preserve proof of struggle crime data that occurred since Russia started its invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.

 Rep. Tom Massie, took to Twitter to explain why he voted no.

“It accommodates language that would set the desk for bringing spurious struggle crimes fees in opposition to American service members for errors made throughout navy operations in theaters resembling Afghanistan,” he mentioned.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia mentioned the invoice would “hand over authority and our intelligence to the ICJ and ICC that would put our navy on trial.

“I cannot vote for globalism and the sluggish slide to develop into a one world authorities,” Greene mentioned. “I’ll solely vote to guard America, our navy and our borders.”

Perry mentioned in an e-mail to USA TODAY that “People should be absolutely knowledgeable on what this invoice says and does, and never be guided solely by the flashy title,” and “by legitimizing the ICC, of which the US will not be a member, we danger extra investigations, prosecutions, and even imprisonment of American Troops who’ve sacrificed for our Nation.”

The opposite Republicans who voted no had been Arizona Reps. Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson and Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry. 

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. voted no by mistake and has requested the Home clerk to amend her vote.
