1 employee dead, 2 injured after ‘road incident’ at Volkswagen’s Tennessee plant | CNN

One Volkswagen worker died and two others had been injured after being struck by a car on the German automaker’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Saturday, in accordance with native police.

One worker died on the scene, a second sustained leg trauma and a 3rd sustained non-life-threatening accidents, Chattanooga Police Division Assistant Chief Jerri Sutton informed CNN.

Volkswagen expressed condolences for the “tragic highway incident” in an announcement shared with CNN.

“Our heartfelt condolences are with the impacted workers, their households and everybody who’s impacted by this tragedy,” Volkswagen Group of America spokesperson Cameron Batten stated within the assertion. “We proceed to work intently with native regulation enforcement as they examine the incident and refer further inquiries to them.”

Batten stated manufacturing on the plant has been canceled for Saturday.

The names of the staff haven’t been launched and police are investigating the incident.
