Wisconsin guard AJ Storr connects with community at his toy drive in Sun Prairie

SUN PRAIRIE – AJ Storr’s fans formed a melting pot.

A woman helping customers at the Pizza Ranch Funzone Arcade on Saturday was determined to get a selfie with Wisconsin’s sophomore guard.

A man wearing a St. John’s team jacket was beaming as he stood for a picture with Storr, who played his freshman season for the Red Storm.

Children of all shapes and sizes – boys and girls, Black and white – waited patiently for a picture and an autographed T-shirt.

The children drew Storr to the restaurant.

Storr and his organization (The Corner Storr) held a Christmas toy drive, with the toys set to be handed out to underprivileged children in the community.

As Storr sat at a table and greeted fans of all ages, two large boxes of toys were a few feet to his right. The toys were brought by fans who came to see Storr.

Storr explained that is mother, Annette Brandy, taught the family growing up in Rockford, Illinois, the importance of reaching out to others less fortunate.

“Me and my mom and my sister used to always try to give back to the youth,” Storr explained. “Feed the homeless, give back to the youth at the Boys & Girls Club back in Rockford.

“My mom and my grandmother always told me it was important to give back, especially if you can.…

“Just trying to get connected to the community anywhere I go, trying to have a little impact.”
