MADISON, WI. (Northern News Now) – The Wisconsin Assembly passed the PRINCE Act Thursday, aiming to expand the horizons of missing person alerts.

Named after 5-year-old Prince Mcree, who lost his life after he went missing in Milwaukee, the act expands the federal missing person alert criteria to include children under 10.

While some missing children already qualify for federal alerts, most missing children don’t fit into the specific criteria.

This leads to communities not being informed when a child goes missing.

The hope of the PRINCE Act is to make sure that any missing child receives the proper public attention.

Having passed the Assembly, the bill now heads to Governor Tony Evers’s desk.
