The Badgers unveiled the banner from their 2023 Final Four appearance before their exhibition match against Bradley on Aug. 20.
MADISON – The Wisconsin volleyball team dug deep for its biggest win of the season.
The ninth-ranked Badgers scored a 3-1 victory over No. 11 Oregon on Friday night in front of 7,229 at the UW Field House. The 25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 result gave Wisconsin a victory over its highest-ranked opponent of the season, extended its winning streak to six matches and gave it sole possession of third place in the Big Ten.
Senior Sarah Franklin finished with a team-high 17 kills and 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Senior Julia Orzol added 10 kills and 10 digs, her third double-double of the the year. The Badgers also got eight kills each from seniors Devyn Robinson, who also led the team with four blocks, and Anna Smrek.
The story of the night, however, was UW steadily improving offense, which produced a higher hitting percentage each set. The back-row defense also shined as five players – freshman Lola Schumacher (19), Franklin, junior Gulce Guctekin (11), freshman Charlie Fuerbringer (11) and Orzol – reached double-digits.
