Drug Take Back Day coming to Wisconsin this weekend
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – This Saturday, over 150 events are planned across Wisconsin for Drug Take Back Day.
Every year, local law enforcement agencies and organizations give Wisconsinites the chance to safely dispose of unwanted and unused medications.
The event also serves to educate the community about safe medicine use and potential abuse, the Wisconsin Department of Justice explained.
Items accepted at take back locations:
- Prescription drugs – remove or black out personal information on label or put medication in a sealable plastic bag
- Over-the-counter drugs
- Ointments
- Patches
- Inhalers
- Liquids, creams and non-aerosol sprays (must be in their original packaging)
- Pet medications
- Vape pens and e-cigarettes with batteries removed
Items not accepted:
- Illegal drugs
- Needles and sharps
- Acids
- Aerosols
- Bio-hazardous materials like blood
- Personal care products like shampoo, soap or lotion
- Paint, pesticides or oil
- Mercury thermometers
