South Dakota State women’s basketball outlasts South Dakota, advances to Summit League title game
The South Dakota State women’s basketball team defeated South Dakota 76-63 to advance to the Summit League championship game.
They Coyotes shot 50% in the fourth and went on a 7-0 run late to give the Jackrabbits a scare, but a three from Ellie Colberg put SDSU over the top.
The Coyotes went through long patches of scoreless basketball at the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter and it cost them down the stretch. USD made only 2-of-12 3-point attempts and shot 29.4% from the field overall in the first quarter. In the second they shot 38.5% from the field.
On the other hand, the Jackrabbits were consistently good offensively across the board. They had three players score in double-figures including Brooklyn Meyer, Paige Meyer and Madison Mathiowetz. Brooklyn Meyer led SDSU in scoring with a game-high 21.
The Jackrabbits will face the winner of the North Dakota State-Oral Roberts semifinal on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
