South Dakota man killed in Yankton County motorcycle accident
YANKTON COUNTY, SD (KTIV) – A motorcyclist has been killed in an accident Tuesday in Yankton County, South Dakota.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, first responders were called to that accident scene near Volin around 5 o’clock Tuesday night.
Investigators say 65-year-old Gordon Sorensen of Irene, South Dakota was riding his motorcycle east on 301st Street behind a semi. The semi was behind a septic tanker truck, which was slowing down to turn.
Investigators say Sorensen attempted to pass the semi and struck the side of the tanker as it was turning. Sorensen was thrown from his motorcycle and died from his injuries.
Investigators say he was not wearing a helmet.
