South Dakota majority and minority leadership announced
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Leadership positions in the South Dakota State Legislature were announced over the weekend.
Republicans
Jon Hansen (Dell Rapids) will serve as Speaker of the House and Karla Lems (Canton) will be the Speaker Pro Tempore.
Some of the majority whips include Scott Odenbach (Spearfish), Marty Overweg (New Holland), Jessica Bahmuller (Alexandria) and Les Heineman (Dell Rapids).
The majority leader in the Senate will be Jim Mehlhaff (Pierre) and the majority whips include Randy Deibert (Spearfish), Kevin Jensen (Canton), Sue Peterson (Sioux Falls) and Tom Pischke (Dell Rapids).
Democrats
As for the minority, Erin Healy (Sioux Falls) will serve as the leader in the House. Eric Emery (Rosebud) will serve as assistant minority leader.
Minority whips include Kadyn Wittman (Sioux Falls) and Nicole Uhre-Balk (Rapid City).
In the Senate, Liz Larson (Sioux Falls) will be the minority leader. Jamie Smith (Sioux Falls) will be the assistant minority leader and Red Dawn Foster (Pine Ridge) will serve as the minority whip.
