Four Watertown players named to all-tournament teams in Class C and A
MADISON — Men’s teams from Sturgis, Madison and Rapid City claimed championships in the South Dakota Amateur Basketball Association state basketball tournament over the weekend.
Here are the highlights by division:
C Division
In the C Division, Sturgis Legendary Electric outlasted Eagle Butte 78-62 in the championship behind 18 points from Tyler Hohenberger and 17 points from tournament MVP Ryan Garland. Blake Proefrock and Laban Clement added 15 and 11 points, respectively for the champions. Eagle Butte got 14 points from Tyler Ogle and 12 from Nate Peterson.
Joining Garland all-tourney team were Hohenberger, Proefrock and Clement from Sturgis, Ogle and Trenton Pretty Weasel from Eagle Butte, Zach O’Keefe from Parker, Braden Carmody and Braydon Brandreit from Watertown and Caleb Kemeick and Ryan Krog from Elkton.
Class B
In the B Division championship, host Madison took down Mount Vernon 103-81 behind 28 points from tournament MVP Tyler Tappe. Madison also got 21 points from Cody Brown, 13 apiece from Brady Wiebe and Andrew King of Lake Norden and 12 each from Clear Lake native Kellan Benck and Jordan King of Arlington. Mount Vernon was led by Deric Denning’s 17 points and 15 apiece from Reed Rus and Chase Arend.
All-tourney players include Tappe, Brown and Benck from Madison, Skyler Bloch and Phillip Millar from Mount Vernon, Jay Huls and Andrew Siemensma from Sioux Falls, Jordan and Jared Vlastuin from Lennox and Falcon Albers from Brookings-Astoria.

Class A
In the Class A championship, Rapid City OCETI narrowly defeated Rapid City We Are Farmers 90-85 behind 26 points from Jesse Heart. Eric Swiftwater added 22 points, Austin Kirkie 17 and tourney MVP Mackenzie Casey 10. We Are Farmers got 17 points from Watertown native Solomon Bach, 16 points from Adam Templeton and 12 points apiece from Steven Schaefer and Cedric Collinge.
Joining MVP Casey on the Class “A” all-tournament team were Kirkie and Heart from OCETI, Templeton and Schaefer from We Are Farmers, Kevin Ratzsch from Sioux Falls We Grind, Logan Doyle and Darin Peterka from Sioux Falls Invisible Fence and Kyle Wiesner and Dustin Tetzlaff from Watertown Foothills Contracting.
