14th Annual Student Research Symposium at South Dakota Mines had over 80 participants this year
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The 14th Annual Student Research Symposium was held at the South Dakota School of Mines, which celebrated the dedication, research, and innovation of its graduates and undergraduates each year.
This event witnessed over 80 students from various disciplines participating, with both oral and poster presentations held for the students.
The top presenters were awarded in the evening and presented at the Spring Honors Convocation.
The categories included robotics, STEM disciplines, and developing techniques for solid-state battery manufacturing.
Laurie Anderson, the Vice President for Research at the school, says that winning these awards is not only beneficial for the students but also has a positive impact on the school. She states that the school’s mission is to educate students and that it is not just about memorizing what’s in the textbook, but it also includes providing various types of experiences to help them grow in their soft skills, which are extremely important as they work into their careers. Anderson shared that she is very proud of the faculty and research scientists for involving graduate and undergraduate students in expanding the gambit of science and engineering.
