Where Ohio State’s Devin Brown lands on 247Sports top backup quarterbacks

If you live under a rock and missed it, Ohio State football announced it’s starting quarterback for the Indiana game, and it’s Kyle McCord.

The third-year player beat out his second-year competitor, Devin Brown. With McCord being named the guy, the pecking order for all of the major programs is now known barring any late injuries. That meant that there would be some speculation about which team has the best second stringer and 247Sports Clint Brewster gave his take on the situation.

Brown wasn’t at the top of the list, but a very respectable No. 5 — behind some other very solid quarterbacks. There is an argument to be made that the Buckeye is at least better than Oregon State’s Aidan Chiles, who checked in at No. 4 but I guess we’d be splitting hairs with that one.

In no way does head coach Ryan Day’s decision mean that Brown will be riding the bench all season, and in fact, he will get some playing time against the Hoosiers. I don’t think this is the last that we hear about Ohio State and it’s quarterback situation, but for now McCord gets the first snaps and Brown will be following him.
