PHOTOS: Unbeaten Mona Shores falls to Ohio football powerhouse 14-13

NORTON SHORES, MI–It was a crisp fall evening at Sailor Stadium as Mona Shores hosted top-tier Ohio program, Toledo Catholic Central, on Friday, Oct. 25.

Mona Shores quarterback Jonathan Pittman connected with Micah Carefelle with 14 seconds left in the second quarter, giving the Sailors a 7-0 advantage at half.

Toledo Catholic took a 14-7 lead with 8:43 in the fourth. The Sailors answered and elected to go for a two-point conversion that came up short, giving the Fighting Irish a 14-13 edge.

On the ensuing kickoff, Sailors’ senior Tyrese McCorvey-Hill recovered an onside kick. Mona Shores would go four and out on the drive, sealing the 14-13 victory for Toledo.

Even with the loss, Mona Shores heads into the playoffs as one of the top contenders for division 2 title.
