Whereas Ohio State’s offense will get many of the consideration, and rightfully so, the protection shut Notre Dame out within the second half on the best way to a 21-10 victory within the season opener at Ohio Stadium on Saturday evening.

“The story of the evening was the protection,” head coach Ryan Day mentioned afterward. “To show round and play the best way they did after what’s been mentioned about them within the offseason, questioning their toughness, and play the best way they did towards the No. 5 group within the nation, I’m pleased with our guys.”

Quarterback C.J. Stroud threw a pair of landing passes for the Buckeyes, together with the go-ahead rating to fifth-year senior large receiver Xavier Johnson, who was taking part in rather than injured junior Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Defensively, Ohio State was led by redshirt junior linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, who completed with 9 tackles, three tackles for loss and two of the Buckeyes’ three sacks.
