Chip Kelly left his post as UCLA’s football coach to become Ohio State’s offensive coordinator ahead of the 2024 season, teaming up with his former quarterbacks coach at multiple stops and current OSU coach Ryan Day.

What is Chip Kelly’s salary?

Kelly signed a three-year deal to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State that includes an annual basic compensation of $2 million.

Ohio State assistant coach salaries: Does Chip Kelly make the most?

Ohio State’s 10 main assistant coaches are set to make nearly $11.43 million in basic compensation in 2024. In 2023, those assistants made about $9.32 million. The assistants do not include strength and conditioning coaches, analysts and various members of the support staff.

In March 2023, Kelly signed a contract extension to remain the coach at UCLA through 2027. According to the Los Angeles Times, Kelly was set to make $6.1 million in 2023 and 2024, and $6.2 million in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Ohio State was responsible for paying $1.5 million to UCLA for Kelly’s buyout and related taxable income resulting from the expense.
