Former Ohio deputies face federal charges over use of excessive force
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two former deputies in southern Ohio are dealing with federal expenses, with one accused of utilizing pepper spray and beating a restrained suspect.
Jeremy Mooney, 47, of Piketon, and William Stansberry Jr., 46, of Chillicothe, each former deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Workplace, are charged with crimes associated to Mooney’s use of drive, in accordance with the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace for the Southern District of Ohio. A federal grand jury indicted each males final week.
The incident occurred on Nov. 18, 2019, beginning outdoors the sheriff’s workplace in Waverly, Ohio, prosecutors say. Mooney is accused of repeatedly utilizing pepper spray and hitting the sufferer whereas the suspect was restrained.
