DineDrinkCLE podcast covers new breweries, winery tasting room in NE Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Our weekly DineDrinkCLE podcast covers a ton of brewery happenings, with Royal Docks, Richfield Brewing Co. and Ohio Brewing Co. in the news along with a new winery tasting room.

We chat about Canton-based Royal Docks Brewing Co., which has made its first foray into Cuyahoga County with a location in Cleveland’s Hingetown neighborhood. It’s a cool space and in walking distance of a couple of other breweries.

Shifting things a bit south, we talk about Richfield Brewing Co., which just opened in Summit County. The cavernous space has a beer hall-like feel, ample room for brewers in the brewhouse and people eating and drinking in the main part of the space. Along with local history touches, the design creates an inviting place.

On the flip side, we learn that Ohio Brewing Co. has been sold to what its owner says is a restaurant group. Ohio Brewing has led a nomadic life with multiple locations in its 27 years. It settled into its current home on Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls. We talk about the brewery’s rich past.

Then Paris Wolfe joins in to discuss Fossil Creek Wine. Brothers Kevin and Don Jacobson opened Fossil Creek Wine’s tasting room about a month ago. The winery is one of 30 wineries in the Grand River Valley appellation. They’ve had the land for a while, and in 2013 they planted their first Riesling grapes. They shifted their goals and approach but settled into a new tasting room nestled among the vineyards, selling a variety of wines from other wineries, too.
