Teen dies in western North Dakota crash with tractor

NEW TOWN, N.D. — An 18-year-old man from Watford Metropolis died early Saturday, July 2, when the Dodge Caravan he was driving collided with a Peterbilt semitruck.

At about 5:54 a.m., the eastbound minivan crossed the middle line on State Freeway 23 east of New City in entrance of the westbound semi, in response to the North Dakota Freeway Patrol.

The semi driver, a 50-year-old Kenmare girl, utilized the brakes and tried to evade the minivan, which struck the semi head-on within the westbound proper flip lane, the Freeway Patrol mentioned. The driving force of the minivan was partially ejected and pronounced lifeless on the scene.

The driving force of the semi was sporting a seat belt and was not injured within the crash, which stays below investigation by the Freeway Patrol and Mountrail County Sheriff’s Workplace.
