Snow removal beginning in residential areas in Jamestown
JAMESTOWN — City crews have started to clear snow in the residential areas as of Monday morning, Feb. 10, according to the engineer’s department for the city of Jamestown. Crews will not remove snow in areas on days when garbage and recycling collection are taking place, therefore, no snow removal is expected in northwest Jamestown on Monday.
The schedule will continue until finished.
City crews will begin clearing snow in the downtown business district starting at 11 p.m. Monday until finished.
All vehicles should be removed from the downtown streets, avenues and alleyways.
The schedule is contingent upon changing weather conditions, snow accumulation totals, and blowing and drifting snow
City officials noted that according to city ordinance, it’s unlawful for any person to remove snow, slush or ice from private property or from any driveway, curb cut or sidewalk and deposit it upon the surface of any street or alley within the city. The snow and ice may be removed by the city and the expense chargeable against the abutting lot or property.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
