Remembering Toby Keith's performances in North Dakota
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Legendary country music artist Toby Keith died Monday at the age of 62 following a battle with stomach cancer.
At the peak of his popularity, Keith performed several times in North Dakota.
Keith played the North Dakota State Fair three times— in 1999, 2001 and 2013.
Longtime Toby Keith fan Ellen Fenner attended his 2013 performance at the North Dakota State Fair.
Fenner also got to meet Keith backstage before the show.
She recalled the excitement from that night and shared with us what Keith’s music meant to her.
“The crowd loved Toby. Everybody loved Toby, and he just had such a special place in so many people’s hearts. And everybody knew every word to his songs, no matter what age they were, younger to older. Toby just touched so many people’s lives,” said Fenner.
Keith was also supposed to play in the 2011 State Fair, but that one was canceled due to the flood.
He had to cancel his 2022 appearance at Norsk Høstfest due to his health issues.
Keith also performed at the 4 Bears Event Center in 2016 when they reopened after their remodel.
