GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – An eventful third period and a number of mistakes downed UND Friday night at home against Colorado College, resulting in a 6-4 loss to start their lone series of the season against the Tigers.

It was a 2-2 game going into the third period, but a 14-second stretch changed the contest in favor of CC.

Klavs Veinberg rifled home a one-timer for his second of two power play goals in the game to make it 3-2 Tigers, then a bounce went in the NoDak net off of UND’s Caleb MacDonald for a 4-2 CC lead 14 seconds later.

North Dakota was chasing the rest of the game, scoring twice in 6-on-5 situations, but it was not enough to pull off a comeback.

With Denver’s win over Arizona St., North Dakota drops to fifth in the NCHC standings as UND looks to bounce back against Colorado College Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
