Public input sought for project to modernize Interstate 29

FARGO — A public input meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 19, to present proposed enhancements to Interstate 29, stretching from the Canadian border to the South Dakota border.
According to a news release, the enhancements will turn Interstate 29 into a “SMART corridor,” focused on improving safety, mobility, automation and real-time traffic management. The project stems from
a $550,000 grant the North Dakota Department of Transportation received in 2021
from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the corridor and a statewide Transportation Management Center.
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 3803 13th Ave. S. in Fargo. The open house-style meeting will include a presentation at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from the North Dakota Department of Transportation and engineering firm Bolton and Menk will be at the meeting to field questions.
Virtual materials regarding the project are available to view at

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
